I have reliable transportation but I do not drive. I am a caring and enthusiastic mother of a non-traditional family of five from 18-32 and I miss caring for younger kids. I was previously a Special Ed and General Ed Teacher for 10 years. I believe that kids of all ages are most secure when they get the attention they need. As a member of their village, I need to make eye contact, laugh with them, listen to them, teach them, and treat them as the beautiful human beings they are. By doing this, we can all relax a little bit and enjoy the time together. That said, it is vital for all of the caregivers to be on the same side when it comes to rules and for the parents to lead the way. After all, a babysitter may be in a child's life for a long time, but parents are there for even longer. It is up to the parents to be the lifelong leaders.
