About Martha

Martha (pronounced Marta) was our nanny for over 8 years, and in that time, she truly became part of our family. She helped raise both of our boys, and even now, we still find ways to have her spend time with them on weekends to keep that special connection alive. With two working parents, having Martha in our lives made everything easier and stress-free. From day one, she brought a sense of structure and routine to our household. She essentially turned each day into a mini-preschool experience for our boys, keeping a fairly strict schedule that included regular nap times—something only she seemed able to achieve. Her knack for getting the boys down for naps and keeping them asleep if they stirred was just one of the many ways she made a difference. Martha has always been incredibly proactive and active. She prefers walking everywhere, and knows all the best parks, libraries, and neighborhood activities in the McLean area. She’s built a strong network of friends and created a play circle that our boys were part of. This actually resulted in my eldest son making a best friend. No matter what, Martha always showed up with a smile on her face and ended each day with that same positive energy. If she ever had a bad day, you would never know it. She truly goes above and beyond in every way. Here are just a few examples of her dedication: • Ensuring they always had sunscreen on during the spring and summer months. • Sending us pictures and videos throughout the day of all the fun activities they were doing. • Teaching the boys Spanish. • Supplementing their education with math and other learning activities. • Playing active games like soccer, basketball, and tag, and even finding creative ways to keep them entertained indoors during the winter months. • Potty training both of our boys with patience and consistency. Martha’s reliability was unmatched. Although she doesn’t drive, she was always punctual—usually even a bit early—thanks to her husband dropping her off and picking her up. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have Martha as part of our lives. She’s been a blessing to our family. We couldn’t have asked for a better caregiver for our boys!
