I have worked with children with special needs since I was a child when my own mother got involved with children with special needs. My mothers brother that was Down's Syndrome and we cared for him. I also worked with and autistic teenager for 3 years. While in Asia during 2004 when the Asian Tsunami occurred, my husband and I cared for 3 challenged 10, 11, and 12-year-old children that were removed from a refugee camp and placed in our direct care.
