About Marissa

Hi there! My name is Marissa and I have 10+ years of teaching experience in the areas of elementary and middle school, special education, and multilingual learning. I received my undergraduate degree and Master's in Education from University of Portland in the areas of early childhood elementary education, K-12 special education, and K-12 English for Speakers of Other Languages. I am currently an elementary multilingual learning specialist. I am passionate about and skilled at creating inclusive, strength-based, and engaging learning environments for a diverse group of learners. My practice is grounded in restorative practices, mindfulness, neuroeducation, and language acquisition research. I especially love teaching writing, reading, and language. I am also a dance teacher and love infusing movement, creativity, and nature into learning. I am primarily looking for summer work with the possibility of continuing tutoring on evenings and weekends during the school year.
