It is with enthusiasm and without any reservation that we write this letter of recommendation for Marie, Marie ("Mimi" as our children call her) began caring for our now 3-year old twin toddlers when they were just over a year old, in September of 2011. Our first impression of Marie was of an intelligent, caring, engaging, and professional young woman, who got down on the floor and began playing with our kids within minutes of arriving in our home. The twins gravitated to her immediately and within days, they had bonded. "Mimi" soon became one of the first dozen words spoken by our kids, who clearly adored a woman we trusted. In two years, Marie has grown from being a nanny, to a trusted partner in the raising of our children. She is mature, reliable, flexible and wonderfully thoughtful. During her time with us, Marie has never once missed a day of work. She has always listened, and dutifully followed our wishes as parents, knowing full well the value of having our twins' various caretakers raising them with consistency. But, she has not just obediently followed our wishes; Marie has made important observations of our kids' behaviors and her- always respectfully delivered- opinions have become incredibly valued. Marie has been pursuing her degree in early childhood education and she quite seamlessly translates what she learns in the classroom to real and valued experiences for our kids and for us as parents. Marie does the work we ask of her- she changes diapers/potty trains, feeds the twins, takes the dog out, and puts the kids down for nap. But, she also does the little things that make our children's lives better. We regularly come home to a new craft that our children have done, from cotton-ball flowers, to hand-print fall foliage finger-paintings. After a Mimi day, the children talk about her, about playtime with her, walks with her, and books they read together. In two years, she has had a huge impact on our kids' lives and we can confidently write they are better little people because of her influence. What a gift to have found Marie and to have had her be a part of the joyous, challenging, entertaining, and always eventful adventure of raising twins.
