About Maria

I highly recommend our wonderful nanny, Maria. She’s cared for our girls from 2019–2024, starting with each of them as 6-month-olds. She is looking for a new position with a family in Brooklyn, since both of our girls are starting school. Maria is a devoted, nurturing, and loving caretaker. She has exemplary patience and we are continually impressed with her ability to engage even tiny babies in conversation. She is bilingual, but speaks almost exclusively in Spanish, per our request, with our two girls. As a result, both our kids are fluent, especially in Spanish comprehension, and many of their early words were in Spanish. We don’t speak Spanish (although we’ve learned a bit in the past few years) and we can easily communicate everything we need to with Maria in English. The girls go outside with Maria for a good portion of each day, enjoying the playground and meeting up with friends. Maria has found long-lasting friendships for our girls and, in fact, we’ve become close friends with many of their parents. In addition, Maria plans trips to story time at the library or special excursions to the zoo or aquarium. She loves taking our baby to music class and drawing and practicing writing with our 5-year-old. Maria’s focus is always on the children. She is never on her phone for anything other than quick calls or texts to arrange playdates or to send us pictures and video updates. Beyond childcare duties, Maria tidies up the kid’s room and does their laundry. She takes pride in preparing nutritious meals and snacks. One example of her nurturing instinct is when one or both kids are sick, she will go to the store and make chicken soup at nap time, or even bring it from home. It’s been our pleasure to see a close relationship grow between Maria and our girls over the years. In fact, other parents have told us they've observed what a special bond they have. The girls go running to the door for one last hug before she leaves each night. The next family who choses to welcome Maria into their lives is very lucky.
