Working with Teachers in the class room, providing daily care of students with emotional and special needs such as cognitive disabilities, physical handicaps, autism and other special needs. Additional responsibilities include one-on-one small group instruction, reinforcing behavior through the use of positive support, guiding and assisting students in small groups with class routines, and in transitioning from one activity to another. Support children's emotional and social development, encourage an understanding of others and promote positive self-concepts. Provide tutoring services and assist with class lessons and assignments during school hours. Function as a liaison between school employees by collecting data and documenting student behavior, maintaining accurate student records and confidentiality of same. As required, answer telephone calls, screen and direct calls, and record accurate messages.
