My name is Maria, I am 28 years old, and I babysit as well as work a full-time job - but I may consider becoming a full-time nanny for the right family. I have been providing childcare on and off since the age of 12. Most of my income as a teenager came from babysitting. I also worked at an esteemed preschool and childcare center for two years in my early 20s. I absolutely adore children and love being around them. I have experience with all age groups and I also have experience caring for children with special needs (developmentally disabled, ADHD, food allergies, physical handicaps, etc.). I was certified in CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety during my employment at the daycare center, but my certifications have expired. I have absolutely no problem becoming re-certified if necessary and/or obtaining any other certifications you may require. Resume, references, and letters of recommendation are available upon request. To tell you a little bit about myself, I enjoy an active lifestyle. I enjoy being interactive with children when possible as opposed to just "supervising" them. I love music and the arts and I love to read. I am the kind of sitter who typically only uses the television/computer/video games at the parents' request -- or if it's early morning and the children are still waking up, for "wind-down" time for a quiet evening (I do love a good movie), or if it's a rainy day. Otherwise, I typically try to encourage something more active and/or creative. I believe in balance and moderation. There needs to be time for play and time for rest. I believe in bedtime stories and playing pretend. I believe in goofing around and laughing. I believe in safety. I believe in kindness, respect, and manners - and will use all of them with your children. I believe that in order to get something, you have to give it. So I say "please" and "thank you" and "you're welcome" because it's the right thing to do and also because I think it encourages children to do the same. I believe in allowing children to help when it's safe and reasonable. I believe in being outdoors. I believe in books. I believe in music. I believe in creativity. I believe in love and affection. I am not opposed to hugs and cuddles as long as you and/or your children aren't. I've kissed many a boo-boo and given a lot of "I don't feel good" backrubs in my day. ;) I believe in being your child's guardian, but also their friend. Please contact me if you'd like to learn more! Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!
