I have worked in Senior care for about 5 years. It started off as a part time job when I was 18 for a lady with a terminal illness, and after working with her I fell in love with the profession. I truly believe caring for the elderly is not a job for anyone, it is only for those that are in it for the love and support they can provide. I worked with Quadriplegics, Mentally retarded, and Alzheimer's clients for Mosaic for 4 years from 2004-2008. I have made positive impacts on every client I have served. One MR client couldn't talk nor groom himself. After 1 year, he was dressing himself, folding his clothes, and making short sentences. Another client who had multiple diagnosis, such as MR, quadriplegic, and blind, was hard to keep an employee because she was so bitter. She spat food, bit workers, and fought bath time. After working with her for two years, she became very easily manageable and cooperative.
