Hello, my name is Maggie! For the last year and a half, I have worked on an inpatient acute crisis care unit for children ages 4-17 years old with neuropsychological conditions including autism, ADHD, and psychosis. I have worked with dozens of children with all different abilities, language levels, social skills, and behavioral needs. My job involved full time supervision, care, and therapeutic intervention for up to 10 patients at a time. I created therapeutic activities to target social skills, emotional coping, communication, and play. I would also assist with caregiving needs such as feeding and hygiene. I became familiar with medication management and behavior therapy through this time. I have decided the high intensity aggression of our patients along with short staffing has made this job too unsafe for me and so I hope to continue my passion for working with this population on a more manageable scale, making connections with individuals and families who need my help.
