About Mandy

I am an extremely passionate caregiver with 17 years of professional experience. I hold a Bachelor s Degree in human and child development. For the last 17 years, I have worked and ran programs at Long Beach State, Sacramento State, and was the Assistant Director at a private child care facility in Northern California. My educational philosophy is deeply rooted in developmentally appropriate practices. These practices have developed out of my education in early childhood classes and also through my work experience. I believe that all children are different and will grow and learn at their own pace. That children need to receive an anti biased education which includes an appreciation for individual differences and cultural diversity. That children s desire to learn can be trusted, and that they learn by doing . That children are deserving of respect, and that children need to be allowed to feel all of their own feelings and learn about their own emotional wellness. That play is the means through which children get the opportunity to experience the world on their own terms. And that children need a curriculum that provides a wide variety of experiences and opportunities in all developmental areas for children to explore. Children need an environment in which they feel safe and allow them the freedom to make independent choices. If children feel safe within their environment, and with the people around them, they develop a sense of self and can handle many of the difficult situations that they encounter. And as a nanny, it is up to me to facilitate play, foster cooperative problem solving skills, watch for individual needs, and inform parents of their child s development and learning process. And if I am able to do this, then my hope is that I will help children feel like they are heard, and valued in this world. I have recently moved to the area and would love to be considered as a nanny for you and your family.
