About Makiyla

Hello there! I am a young artist currently working in a one room schoolhouse over in the Hawthorne Valley area. Our kindergarten is based in Waldorf education yet branches deeply into the impact our natural world can have upon the spirit, we spend plenty of time walking through our orchard and playing in the mud! I have worked for many years as an outdoor educator with children of all ages however am focused now on my work with children 5 and under as I have always had a deep reverence for the magic such pure beings imbue into our day to day. Connection with children and fostering feelings of safety and exuberance has always come naturally to me, yet my work in the kindergarten is allowing me to deepen my maternal instinct of quiet resolved caregiving. I like to think that I behold the magnificent energetic being that is a child while still holding space for the grounding and mindfulness that allows children to come into themselves completely.
