About Makiah

I'm a child and family therapist, taking a break from some of the more intense trauma-related family work I've been doing to rest and recharge. I received an undergraduate degree in childhood development and education and began my career as a nanny and caregiver nearly 20 years ago. I've always had a passion for helping children learn and grow through play and exploration. I now have a Masters in Social Work and have worked in children's mental health for the last 7 years. I'm a patient and calm caregiver with a creative and imaginative personality. I believe in open lines of communication with parents, and being on the same page about household expectations, boundaries, and discipline. While I prefer to follow a parent's lead, as experts on their own children, I am always open to providing my perspective and expertise in caring for my and non-judgmental or directive ways.
