About Makenna

I started working with kids when I was 13 as a summer camp counselor, I worked there every summer until I was 21 years old. In my last two years I had worked my way up to Head Counselor, supervising high school aged counselors and when needed being a one-on-one counselor to campers needing extra support. In my spare time, I like to hang out at my apartments pool and read a good book. My top 3 child care skills 1. Compassion it's hard being a kid sometimes, in my experience I have learned how to support kids in my care through calm guidance. 2. Creativity Being a former camp counselor, I have picked up a game or two in my time and I am always down for creating fun activities or finding fun things to do 3. Communication I have learned that communicating expectations, and rules, from the beginning, with reminders throughout the day is so important to make mine and kids time together a lot more fun and easy. I value communication with parents about the care of their kids.
