About Maira

Hi there, I'm Maira! I am 22 and have recently graduated with a Bachelors degree in strategic communications. My goal with children has always been to foster a sense of creativity and self expression through conversation. As a writer and an artist, children inspire me to see the fun and joy in the mundane. I'm really interested in making art, whether that be painting/drawing, making crafts, or creating stories/plays. Most of my experience comes from being a swim instructor at the YMCA, teaching kids from ages 3-10. Growing up in a big family with younger cousins also taught how to care for children, specifically boys. I grew up in Houston and my mother and grandmother both taught at my elementary school, so I have grown up around teachers and understand how important and demanding their work is.
