Maggie volunteered as an Education Technician with an Outdoor Education (CCOE) program for three months in 2014. During this time Maggie presented science-based lessons to over 600 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students. Maggie effectively led multiple hikes over a steep and rough trail with 3rd grade students, and she safely aided 5th grade students up and down a trail which included climbing a ladder. Maggie teaches with enthusiasm and confidence. It is obvious that she enjoys working with students as she laughs with them throughout her lesson. This helps engage and motivate students. Maggie demonstrated sensitivity to different cultures and beliefs throughout her lessons, often pointing out and avoiding situations that would make students of different cultures uncomfortable. Her instructions are clear and emphasize safety. She makes efforts to include all students in the activities.
