Sharing my honest, yet admittedly one sided story here. We were in a bind last minute when our normal childcare provider called out for the week so I hired Madi last minute to provide care for my 1 and 3 year old boys. Madi told me she is a nanny full time and had the week off from her normal job because her family went on a trip. I normally ask to check references but because I was desperate to find care I went ahead and hired Madi soley based on our phone conversation and her stated experience. She seemed niced and genuine and I didn't feel any red flags. Fast forward to 30 minutes before she was scheduled to arrive and I receive a text that her roommate was having a medical issue and she needed to take her to the emergency room. She told us she'd still try and make it to our home but would be late. We had some back and forth messages for a few hours before we stopped hearing from her. I want to believe that her story is true but without checking her references or seeing any other reviews on her profile, I feel it's worth noting to serve as a warning for other families looking to hire her to check her references and for care.com to have a track of this behavior if it happens again to another family.
