My review below entails a strange series of events that makes me feel very uncomfortable. I don't typically leave negative reviews but I feel like I should share this with other families because nannies are people we entrust our precious babies with. We hired Madeline after a phone interview and meet & greet (which I paid her for). All seemed OK at the meet & greet, she said she wanted to work with us and assured me multiple times that our schedule worked for her currently and would also be no problem in the future. She was going to start the following day to cover for our current nanny who was out sick. I paid $80 for a background check, which came back fine except for a "hit" on her SSN. The company explained that for some reason there was no birthplace on file for her, but assured us that it was OK and everything else checked out. Madeline backed out of helping us that day because she "wasn't comfortable" starting until she figured out what was going on with the background check. I found that to be strange but figured maybe she had something come up and was using it as an excuse. Today I reached out to see if she'll still be coming next week. Now she said that she doesn't think it will work with her schedule. I paid her for the meet and greet and also $80 so I kindly and respectfully asked if she'd reimburse me for the meet & greet so I'm not out so much money. She hasn't replied. I went to request the money on a payment app, but now it's saying her account no longer exists. This is SO shady. Either she blocked me or deleted her whole account. Either she's taking another job after commuting to us (which is fine, but she wasn't direct and honest with me if that's the case) or something even shadier is going on. Leaves me feeling really uncomfortable. I will come back to edit this review if she ends up clarifying or making the situation feel less sketchy.
