About Luke

Hello. My name is Luke. I have been teaching and tutoring at Joliet Junior College in the math department since August of 2010. At the tutoring center, I discuss student questions in courses ranging from arithmetic to differential equations, drawing upon knowledge of several major areas of mathematics. At the institution, I teach courses in arithmetic and algebra, creating lesson materials, teaching class, and providing support to students. Prior to my work at JJC, I tutored at North Central College for two years. I've worked as a teaching assistant for calculus II, and I've held weekly study sessions for calculus, integrated calculus, intermediate algebra, college algebra, proofs, and microeconomics. I've tutored these and other courses one-on-one with a variety of students. Not only have I tutored math, but I've taken college math courses beyond graduation requirements, and I've participated in three research projects, one in algebraic geometry (pure math) one in mathematical biology (applied math), and one in economics (studied MP3 player pricing). For these reasons, I have a working knowledge of math and economics that allows me to answer a questions across various courses at the pre-college and college level. I can produce a resume, photocopy of college degree, and transcripts on request.
