About Lucia

I received my TEFL certification right out of college and have taught Thai children and Ukrainian adults how to speak, read, and write English as a foreign language. Prior to my traveling-teacher journey; I tutored elementary school children at Cesar Chavez in San Diego and was part of the PAL Program to help kids in underserved areas get free tutoring and classroom aide. To help students truly grasp the English language I use communicative teaching techniques and task-based learning. I try to focus mainly on real-world skills and scenario's, scaffolding lesson plans that are truly useful to each individual student. I always provide personalized lesson plans, use error correction in context, and offer positive reinforcement to motivate and build confidence in my students.
