I have been working with the elderly for the past 10 years. I have worked with an agency going into private homes and helping with daily activities including: hygiene, medication management, exercise, errands, meals, doctor appointments, games, etc. I have worked in a dementia facility as a CNA. This included not only helping people with bathing, getting dressed, toileting as needed, etc., but also helping them be involved in activities provided by the facility, and spending time one on one with them. I have also worked with private individuals going into their homes and helping with activities that they needed help with (including: bathing, dressing, meals, medication management, cleaning, errands, taking to a doctor appointment or grocery store, keeping them company or even driving around looking at the scenery. I have taken care of my MIL and both my parents. The elderly have so much wisdom and experiences to share. They need to be treated with dignity and respect.
