I am working to get a credential in Special Education. My bachelor's degree is in Urban Learning with a focus in Special Ed, and I need some more classes and some student teaching to earn a credential. I currently work 6 hours a month providing in-home instruction for an adult with special needs. I have also had other students of varying ages and disabilities with the same company. During my directed teaching we had 2 students with autism in the class I was teaching. I'm also comfortable around kids with special health needs, as my small cousin had some medical problems when he was a younger infant, and still has dietary restrictions as a result. I'm passionate about it because I believe all children deserve an equal chance at life, love, and learning. I believe all children have a capacity to learn and grow, and have their own unique contributions to make to their families and communities.
