I'd describe my personality as outgoing, caring and reliable. I like caring for seniors because they deserve the same care and compassion they gave their loved ones, when they're older and in need I'm looking for a job where I can feel like I've made a difference in that person's life. That I've put their mind at ease, making them feel safe and cared for. I was a live in caregiver, 4 days a week, for a 85 yr old woman with dementia. 20 months later, her symptoms became so severe, her family decided to put her in an acute care home. Then I was a caregiver for an older man who had a stroke. It not only affected him physically, but cognitively. I was hired to give his wife a break 3 days a week. He had felt useless. Reintroducing tasks and things he enjoyed, like baking, starting a vegetable garden, seeing musicals at the theatre, bookstores, resale record stores and more. Drs appts as well. After 2 years, once he was more self sufficient and felt confident, my job was done.
