I've been working with kids for around eight years, beginning in nurseries and Sunday School classes and moving on to watch one to three kids at once on my own, usually in their own homes. I have the most experience working with toddlers and slightly older children, but I'm comfortable caring for babies. (I may need more direction with things like feeding, baths, and age-specific care.) I encourage active play, reading books together, cultivating interest in music, and creativity with art and crafts. I play several instruments and am proficient in reading and writing, and I may be able to instruct or encourage a child in those things when age-appropriate. I work best with quieter children, as I have some sound hypersensitivity, and for the same reason I prefer not to be around loud pets (e. g. dogs that bark a lot), but if necessary I do have sound-cancelling earbuds that still allow me to hear enough to do my job adequately. I'm very comfortable with cats and quiet pets.
