About Lena

An encouraging, enthusiastic, and gentle caregiver, I have 7 + years of experience. I've worked as a babysitter and an instructor at day camps, after school programs, and schools. I love cultivating the interests of kids, listening attentively to their thoughts, and coming up with activities that incorporate their passions, especially art or STEM activities that promote observation and curiosity! I place high value on play and silliness and enjoy playing pretend or reading stories. When behavioral challenges arise, I approach them empathetically. Drawing on research about emotional regulation, I help kids understand the emotional roots of their upset, teaching them to articulate their feelings and needs. I believe in the importance of holding a firm boundary. Good caregiving offers the structure and containment that children need to feel a sense of freedom and safety. In my off time, I read, write poetry (I just finished my MFA), farm, hike, and teach a cooking to middle schoolers.
