I have grown up around individuals with disabilities my entire life. Both my parents were caregivers and when I got out of the military I decided to follow the same career path. I worked at the YMCA for about 6 months with disabled adults in a day program. In this program we assisted with meal prepping, daily living activities, transfers and changing. I am CPR/First AID/Oxygen certified. It is truly the most rewarding career I have ever worked in. It amazes me how a person who can't even speak or walk can change your mood around in an instant with a simple smile or giggle. I know being a caregiver is never easy, but I love this career field and love being able to make a difference in someone else life.
