About Layla

Hi! My name is Layla and I am a 20-year-old student at Middlebury College studying Psychology! I love traveling, fashion, writing, drawing, and spending time outdoors (walks, swimming, skiing). I have been passionate about working with and learning from kids from a young age. I started out volunteering in classrooms and local organizations, and my interest only grew when I was a summer camp counselor for 2nd and 3rd graders last year. This semester, I took a Child Development course and got the opportunity to work with the local afterschool program which serves low income and single parent families in Middlebury. This experience emphasized the importance of community and quality childcare from trustworthy adults for parents. I value the connections I made with each child, getting to know their individual needs/curiosities, and the experience I gained being responsible for the wellbeing of groups of children.
