About Lauren

I am writing to express interest in the tutoring position you have available. I am currently in Columbus on a break from my Master's in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. I am passionate about child development and have worked with kiddos in both educational and legal settings. As an Americorps volunteer, I served in a remedial math classroom with at-risk middle schoolers, and developed a special relationship with a child who moved to perform at grade level through the course of our relationship. I also served as a court-appointed advocate for a teen in extended foster care, advocated for her needs in court, and built a relationship as a near peer mentor. In addition, I served as an advocate while working for an attorney who was court appointed to CPS cases and provided homework help and designed enriching activities for kiddos during home visits. I would love another opportunity to help children learn and grow!
