I am currently a substance use counselor in Boone, NC. Prior to that, I was in full time child care for 2+ yrs at a residential foster home where I provided trauma informed care for up to 9 kids at a time, ages 0-18 with various backgrounds and needs, including 2 young children who were nonverbal & on the autism spectrum. I received a great deal of training in this role. American Red Cross certified in infant/child/adult first aid and CPR, child/adult AED, blood born pathogens (recert due January 2026), babysitting and pet first aid. Completed my bachelor's in psychology from WCU in 2020, which included courses on child and adolescent development and abnormal psychology. I began providing child care for several families and organizations in my community at the age of 12, and continued to offer traditional babysitting services (both paid and volunteer) until beginning a full time child care position in 2021. I completed foster licensing courses in March 2023.
