About Laura

My name is Laura. I work most days at the Daniel Boone Regional Library as a Youth Services Associate. Before that, for 2 years, I worked as a nanny for a family with a newborn and a 17-month-old. I graduated from the University of Missouri in May of 2021 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. While in college, I participated in the College of Education Honor Program, and I graduated Summa Cum Laude as a certified teacher. I completed my student teaching at The Atelier, a private preschool based in the Reggio Emilia philosophy. While there, I worked with all age groups, but spent an entire semester in the 2-3-year-old room. I also have field experience in both kindergarten and 2nd grade. I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old. While I have the most experience with 2-3-year-olds, I have cared for children ranging from newborn to 13 years old. My philosophy is fundamentally based on respect for the child, meaning I am fond of gentle or responsive parenting.
