This was a difficult review to write because Laura was a part of our family for two years and did an excellent job until the end when she abandoned the role without an actual resignation, without notice, and without returning our keys or gate access. We were aware that she was going through a difficult time personally and offered support inclusive of a live in option and a pay increase which makes the abandonment and failure to communicate even more shocking. When she was here she talked with our kids, completed lessons and crafts, did odd jobs around the house, showed up on time, took care of both an infant and toddler at the same time, and traveled with our family for our vacations. The job abandonment was surprising and disappointing and left us scrambling trying to figure out if we were holding her position open or if we needed to replace her. She was non communicative and the saddest part is that she did not say goodbye to our two year old who was very attached to her. I think Laura has a great set of skills as a nanny and could not, in good faith, give her a one star despite my frustration with the situation - but this was such a terrible and surprising off boarding that it nearly negates the level of work she did for two years. We thought of her as family and were very hurt by the unprofessional departure. If hired, I can say that I believe she will take good care of your children but as a business owner, professional, and a mother I would expect better communication about ending employment in general especially a job involving children.
