I graduated from WMU in 1977 with a BA degree in Psychology/Social Work. I worked at a Special Needs Center for over 4 years during and after I graduated. The students had to have been labeled with two or more severe disabilities to attend. I worked with varied disabilities, from autism, cerebral palsy, deaf, developmental delays, severe mental impairments, epileptic, and behavior disorders. I taught in the public schools with students in grades 3-5, 5-6, 9-12, and college level. I was certified to teach K-12 Varying Exceptionalities, with a Reading and ESOL Endorsement. I taught for over 15 years. I have always had a desire to assist individuals achieve goals to make them more independent and reach academic goals.
