Hello and thank you for taking time to learn more about me. I don't have formal training working with special needs individuals, but I have many years experience as an elementary teacher working with children with special needs. Because I am calm, organized and believe in structure and routine, I believe that works well with individuals in my care. I do not have any nursing background or the ability to assist with moving, changing or hygiene care. I worked one year with a 16-year-old young man with autism who is homeschooled. We focused on schoolwork and I took him on adventures (walks, while singing, trips to Walmart while practicing how to engage others, inappropriate conversations, lunch at his favorite place , the center to swim)
