About Lara

I'm a licensed occupational therapist with a passion for working with and caring for older adults. I find spending time with older adults to be beneficial to me personally on a spiritual level. My strengths include a commitment to maintaining a peaceful personal presence, sense of humor and emotional connection, creativity, and the ability to intuit a client's needs, especially those experiencing dementia. As an occupational therapist, I am trained to facilitate a person's participation in experiences that improve or maintain quality of life, and I am especially interested in guiding folks through sensory experiences in nature. I have a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from UNC Chapel Hill and I also received a Certificate in Aging there. During my time in school I performed fieldwork with older adults in home care, many of whom were experiencing various levels of dementia.
