About Laena

I think it's important that all children are treated with respect and have the chance to express themselves. Though I don't have consistent experience in childcare, I babysat for many families throughout high school. Nearing my senior year, I was in an EMT training program where I learned skills to not only multitask and stay calm in high pressure situations but about life saving techniques used in emergency rooms and in 911 calls. In college, I've taken 3 semesters of American Sign Language and have continued to practice over breaks to maintain my understanding of the language. I would like to preface and say that I am not fluent, but at an intermediate level. I also took pottery classes for 9 years and have been drawing and painting for most of my life, so I love to do art and make the best out of mistakes. I like working with children because they have so many diverse ways to show self-expression and can teach me more about it.
