This is the background check we require for all caregivers.
Experience: 1 yr
In 2022, my mother was suddenly diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer. I quit my 30 year career as a preschool teacher to be her caregiver. My mom was quickly debilitated, and I learned to push a wheelchair, use a gait belt, set up an accessible environment, manage medication, manage doctors and insurance. My favorite part was to listen to her stories as well as the stories of the friends and family by whom she was surrounded. What I learned while my mom was sick was that the end of life is as magical and important as the beginning. When I was in high school my mom, a nurse, worked at an adult daycare for Alzheimer's patients. I volunteered after school to play games and take walks with the residents. Some of my tasks as your caregiver will be companionship, light housework, cooking, medication management, assistance with daily tasks, and forming a respectful relationship with your loved one.

I have seen Kristi care for her ailing mother who was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare Cancer. She worked tirelessly to make sure she understood her mother’s condition and worked to help alleviate the awful symptoms while making her mother comfortable. She quickly learned the ins and outs of insurance, of Medicaid and the labyrinth and monster of that system, while also playing the roles of Nurse, Caretaker, Pharmaceutical research and understanding of medications. I saw her prepare nutritious meals and most importantly remain a stable and steady force of comfort to her mother. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Well it was her Mom?” Yes, that’s the whole point, she cared for her Mother and tended to her care with excellence. How many of us can say we have the same to our parents when they felt helpless and needed tender 24/7 care? Kristi caring for her Mother is an example that she will give the same great care to your parents and loved ones. I believe that the way we treat our loved ones truly shows who you truly are…Your loved ones will be in great warm hands. And Kristi has a courageous heart to fight for what they need.
