My first experience working with people who are differently abled came from my time working as a camp counselor for the Round Lake Area Trailblazers day camp program. Here I worked with a variety of children 6-21 and after that summer I went back to school and changed my career focus to therapeutic recreation. Following that experience, When summer rolled around again I knew I wanted to gain more experience working with a diverse population of people and stumbled upon Easter Seals Respite Camp located in the Wisconsin Dells. I always say this camp has now touched every single aspect of my life and I am forever grateful for all that it has taught me. I have had the joy of being able to work with people of all ages and all abilities including autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, mood disorders, ADHD, and cerebral palsy. I also worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism and am currently working as a recreational therapist on an inpatient geriatric psych unit.
