Hi! My name is Kris. I have a business in which I assist you in selling or donating items that have accumulated through the years. These items can be emotionally charged. I am patient. I work with seniors, some of whom have dementia, in their homes, providing care and assistance so that the person can stay in this familiar environment. I've worked with seniors at an assisted living facility as a concierge/driver, but filled in everywhere throughout the building as needed. I believe in getting the job done so that the day goes smoothly. I worked for 14 years at UC Berkeley in the Disabled Students Program where I repaired manual and electric wheelchairs and created adaptive aids for students. I've remodeled 4 homes, doing a lot of the work myself. I love animals and love to keep them healthy and happy with walks and proper nutrition. I enjoy cooking and can prepare meals for you.

I have known Kris socially & professionally for 30 years. During this period severe osteoarthritis has progressively degraded my joints & brought about the peripheral compensations from favoring one side & so on. I am no longer able to work and am permanently disabled. All of this time I've lived in the same small apartment where, as many do, I've accumulated far more than I need or could ever use. Due to my severe limitations this had gotten out of hand. I had grown quite discouraged & baffled about how to "dig my way out." The advice of friends to "just do a little each day" only resulted in more frustration & piles being moved from here to there, not diminished or properly stored. Things had gotten to the point where I needed "Professional Help." I contacted Kris because I know her to be many wonderful things; infinitely compassionate, reliable, patient, clear in her communication & when needed, firm. I've always known her to have an incredible work ethic. I recall first being impressed with how she cheerfully performed the diverse tasks required in her service capacity as a Shop Technician within the school's on-campus program, assisting students, some in wheelchairs with assistive devices, others managing the spectrum of physical challenges. I witnessed how her day-to-day tasks required all of the above characteristics & skills, plus flexibility, ingenuity, the ability to learn new things quickly & the nonnegotiable capacity of care & compassion for each of the students she served. When I reached out to Kris most recently I knew she wasn't a "Professional Organizer," but that was actually preferable because I'd gone that route before & found myself right back in the midst of a depressing tangle of 'stuff,' plus I simply could not afford the hourly rates they command for a project requiring this amount of time & physical labor, including working atop a ladder, going up & down a long staircase innumerable times per hour, etc. I was extremely lucky that Kris was not only willing to help me, she was available to see this sizable project through to completion. We got started right away, dealing with the most pressing areas first. Just in our first 5-hour workday we accomplished a significant & gratifying quantity of clearing & reorganization. By "we" I mean I did a lot of talking regarding what I wanted to accomplish, how & in which order, & Kris did well over 90% of the very demanding physical work. She did this without making what would have been terribly undermining comments about the enormity of the task or whispering a single word of complaint. I would have understood if, at any point, Kris had gotten frustrated & said that was all she could do for that day. That never happened. In fact, she was a very calming, comforting presence, which enabled me to stay mentally organized & on-task, something not to be belittled in tackling any project of this magnitude. To date, we have conquered 80% of this project, which would have long since been done if I were in a position to compensate her for the amount of uninterrupted daily work needed to complete the project. I'd like to touch briefly on the diverse roles for which Kris is seeking an ongoing position; as a caregiver, for those like myself who can do a few things for themselves but need assistance with more physically demanding personal & household tasks, as a pet-care provider & as a Handy-person / performing odd jobs. These share many of the same core skills & characteristics, for all of which Kris is uniquely flexible, capable & experienced. In the course of my major decluttering project Kris came prepared to tackle several Handy-woman tasks, arriving for work with all required tools including an electric drill, all 'bits,' hardware, etc. A few of the Handy-person tasks Kris has completed for me are: * The removal, repair & installation of shelving, i.e various types from IKEA & an antique wall-mounted wooden shelf unit with drawers. * The repair, deep cleaning & reorganization of contents in a 100-year-old built-in cabinetry/chest of drawers * The removal, repair, realignment & thorough cleaning of several degraded 2nd-story aluminum-framed windows which (for the first time in 20 years,) now open & close effortlessly * Hemming & installation of elaborate window treatments Aside from her vast & profound skill-set she is a most enjoyable, insightful & stable person to have there for you & with you. God forbid, if I were to lose an even greater degree of mobility & require a more full-time, skilled attendant to ensure my daily health & well-being, I would be thrilled, relieved & incredibly blessed to have Kris step into that role, again, if she were available. I cannot recommend anyone more wholeheartedly than Kris L.
