I have 5 years of experience as a nanny, 3 as a CNA, & 10 as an ICU nurse. I have taken care of everyone from pediatrics to geriatrics, hospice, spinal cord injuries, dialysis, seizures, and more. Most recently, I worked as the night hospital manager in Steamboat Springs and as an ICU nurse in the Covid unit last year in South Dakota. I need a change from the hospital setting and am transitioning into what really makes me happy... empowering people with disabilities to have increased independence and if possible, get them outdoors. I am passionate about folk music, creating art, snowboarding, whitewater rafting, listening to audio books, spending as much time as possible in nature, cooking, and practice yoga and meditation daily. When I met Kirsten, I was truly struggling with finding care, fighting the struggles and depression that comes with disability, and feeling like a burden on the world as a quadriplegic with extreme physical limitations. I came on care.com desperate to look for care just to get out of bed, and on the off chance that I could find somebody to travel with me for a family event in less than two weeks. Not only did I find that person, I found Kirsten. I could speak volumes about her competency when it comes to physical cares, but emotionally and mentally she has given me a different outlook on life and reminded me that there are good caregivers who CARE out there still. Within a week, she learned my extremely difficult cares, had my bags packed, assisted me with planning I didn't know I even needed, and we were on a plane.
