I am a retired high school math teacher with 25 years of teaching experience. I have also been a private math tutor for 35 years and can provide references upon request. I enjoy working one-on-one with students and have been told that I explain things well and am easy to understand and communicate with. Because of my vast years of tutoring/teaching, I am able to explain things in several ways to help students understand a concept. I am able to make up examples if needed and still have resources to provide my students with extra practice. Tutoring is so much different than teaching a class of 30+ students. Many kids are intimidated to ask questions in class that they aren't in a smaller setting. My aim as a math tutor is to help kids feel more comfortable doing math and to provide them tools to remember what they learn.
