I got interested in special needs after meeting a kid who had muscular dystrophy. He became one of my good friends and changed my outlook on life. After he passed I wanted to work with kids more like him. I became a peer tutor in high school and worked with kids who had some type of disability. I decided to pursue a degree in psychology to work with those who have a mental illness or who have a disability. In college, I did have interactions with those that are blind or visually impaired through one of my courses. I am looking to make some extra money during the week as I am a full-time counselor.
