Complete transparency! I have not had an official job caring for anyone with special needs yet, but I do have experience with kids on the spectrum. I have a little bit of volunteering experience with a nonprofit organization in Columbia, South Carolina called The Therapy Place. They provide support for children with special needs. I worked one of one with an 8-year-old girl during my time there. She is on the spectrum and non verbal, but her mom was very pleased with my patience and how well I worked with her daughter! She even offered me a summer babysitting position for her, but I was no longer going to be in Columbia so I had to turn it down.
