(CNA certified) I approach caregiving first by listening to my clients and paying close attention to their individual needs, preferences, personality, and those of surrounding family members. Going above and beyond to bring quality of life to my clients despite illness and disability is what makes me unique and makes my work really worth while. By bringing quality of life I mean enabling you to do things you enjoy, exploring hobbies, interests, and entertainment, getting out into nature or going to an art museum or movie theatre for example. While ADLs are taken care of and the house is being cleaned, conversation is what often fills the gaps and I consider it to be an integral and even deeply rewarding part of my relationship with my clients. Knowing when to give people their space is important too.
