My mother could be a very strongly reactive individual. With the challenges of advancing Alzheimers disease, these behaviors demonstrated themselves at times with increasingly frequency and troubling episodes of behavior (sometimes physical) that were hard to predict and mollify. How fortunate was my family to have someone like Keron in our employ. Her steadfast compassion and considerate approach to my mother made me realize that there are but a few people with the ability (and love) of doing something I consider such a life calling. Keron's personal attentions to the late stages of such harsh disease, made my mothers life so much better, full of demonstrated love even when I could not be there to show it. I would like to use the following story to reference what I saw as the ultimate in dedication and concern. In the final months of my mothers life, she had to be moved to an elevated care nursing facility due to the increased nature of her care. Although no one knew at the time what would be her last week of life, I received a call from Keron (who I now considered to be more than 'just an employee) She, with my permission, asked if she could visit my mother at her new residence. I later learned that Keron had, on her ONLY DAY OFF WHILE WORKING HER FULL TIME JOB 6 DAYS PREVIOUSLY THAT WEEK, stopped in, and helped my mother with what was most likely one of her, if not her last meal before she entered a state of hospice. I WILL NEVER FORGET this occasion. This type of concern and loyalty demonstrated by someone who did not have to, nor considered her own valuable time off to make a difference in our families memories of how some of my mothers last hours were spent. What a testament of Keron's devotion to those (in this case my mother) who she had grown to care for over the many months that she had seemingly be 'employed' to care for. I will forever feel indebted to Keron for the superior care she gave my mother, a care I consider above and beyond that which most will never know less they are fortunate to employ someone with the beauty from within that is Keron’s.
