I have had the honor to serve as dance coach for a local dance competition team for the past five years. Based on my experience with early childhood, I was given the opportunity to teach a special needs dance class at the studio a few years ago. During that time was when I decided to change my major to psychology in order to learn more about certain disabilities, disorders, and behaviors. In 2014, I began an internship with a local behavior therapy company. As part of my work, I received extensive trainings and supervisions on how to implement behavior plans, input data, and assess certain cases. I worked primarily one on one with children on the autism spectrum and their families in order to decrease maladaptive behaviors. My love and commitment to helping children with disabilities inspired and led me to volunteer at a therapeutic horse-riding center. I have worked with children who are blind, autistic, or suffer from physical disabilities, as well as with adults with cerebral palsy.
