I started out my career working in nursing homes. I became a CNA in 1997. I worked in nursing homes for 23 years. In 2012, I worked with a woman who was in the nursing home for rehab. When it was nearing time for her to go home, she approached me and asked if I would be available to help her at home. I was honored that she asked me, but I had never worked in homecare. I thought about it and talked it over with my husband. I had nothing to lose if it was too much I could cut back. I went for it. I am so glad I did. I worked both in homecare and nursing homes for years. It wasn't until the pandemic that I had no choice but to part ways with working in the nursing home. I felt bad leaving, but I knew I couldn't do both it was too risky. Homecare is what I chose, and I have been doing it ever since. I love my job!!
