Kelerayani, or "Layla", as she is called is the best caregiver and a true angel! I had to hire a 24/7 live-in caregiver for my elderly and bedbound stepdad after he asked me to fire his prior caregiver for being too rough with him. Caring for my stepdad was no easy task! He had a severe bed sore from not being moved enough by his previous caregiver. He was incontinent. He screamed out in pain every time anyone moved his legs. He couldn't hear well and was legally blind. He could be very onery and sometimes had severe agitation and some halluciations. He had to be convinced to eat and drink. Layla was hired after my stepdad was released from the hospital after septic shock. I researched for hours on Care for a suitable caretaker--someone who had the skills to know if my stepdad was having a medical emergency, had the patience to care for a challenging patient, and who had the ethics to call 9-1-1 when necessary, rather than worrying if they were going to be out of work while their patient was hospitalized. I hired Layla to care for my stepdad 5+ days per week, all day/night. Layla is extremely knowledgeable in medical care. I was hoping for a CNA but got so much more with Layla! As a trained nurse in Fiji, she knew when my stepdad was not well. She gave me updates often, communicated with his numerous other medical professionals to coordinate care for him, accurately organized and administered all medications, and diligently logged all of his daily events in a recordbook. If she needed to take time off, she arranged alternate care for him and helped me on numerous occassions (on her days off) find care when his relief caretakers called in sick, etc. She spent significant time training any other caretaker who cared for my stepdad when she was off. He ended up in the ICU on a weekend when Layla was off and was there for a week. Some caretakers would've immediately found a new job. Not Layla. She is very dedicated. She came to visit my stepdad at the hospital and he was very happy to see her. Layla is so kind and attentive. She really is a godsend. I could not have asked for a more loving and knowledgeable caretaker. Everyone who met her at my stepdad's would say "thank god for Layla!" The other medical professionals (nurses, hospice staff, weekend caregiver agency) frequently commented at how good Layla was. My life would've been so much more stressful if it weren't for Layla. I always knew he was in the most capable hands when she was with him. When my stepdad passed away, Layla showed much compassion to me and my family during a very difficult time. My family is forever grateful to Layla. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, extremely kind, responsible and ethical caretaker with great communication skills who is always willing to go the extra mile to help, look no further than Layla! She is absolutely the best!
