About Kayla

Hello! My name is Kayla, and I'm looking to fill a caregiver role for the next few months before I begin PA school in January 2025. I am passionate about providing care for families and acting as a support person in ensuring children's healthy development. Since July 2023, I have worked as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the inpatient Mother/Baby unit at UVA Health. My time in Mother/Baby has granted me the opportunity to make a difference in providing postpartum and newborn patient care and education that sets families up for success. I have experience assisting with feeding (breastfeeding and safe formula preparation), checking newborn vital signs, ensuring hygiene through bathing and diaper changes, and performing diagnostic screenings (transcutaneous and total serum bilirubin tests, Newborn State Screen, and Critical Congenital Heart Disease screening). I am also CPR certified for adults, children, and infants. I look forward to meeting you!
