I have four years of experience in my high school, where I took peer tutoring class. Additionally, I have worked with two families through Helpers Inc. "Helpers Inc. is an innovative and creative solution for families in need of in-home supportive care and child care services for their family member with developmental disabilities." Responsibilities I have shown with these children include feeding(syringes), bathing, dressing, basic needs(brush teeth, lotion, stretching, etc.), transportation from school, fundamental activities needed to help engage their learning--using positive reinforcement to help the child walk(with my help) instead of crawl, or shred papers/do puzzles/etc. instead of watching videos, and much more. I have developed a true bond with these children and they have taught me so much. I am so proud to have gotten the opportunity to have this much experience before going into college and am more than ready to continue on to earn my degree in education at Kansas State University. I have a great passion in working with kids!
