About Katie

We hired Katie to care for our 18-month old son this summer three to five days a week. Her bright personality and optimistic spirit were evident from the moment we met her. Her easygoing nature encouraged our son to experiment, play, and laugh easily. Our son met Katie during a time when spending time with a less familiar family member or new adult would leave him in tears for long stretches. Katie took this in stride as he adjusted. She was sensitive and empathetic anytime he expressed sadness, calmly talking to him and listening to him. He grew to be very comfortable with her, forming a special bond. Katie took the tools and toys we are most comfortable with and integrated them into her care plan. She engaged our son in imaginative play, letting him lead according to his interest and taking advantage of teachable moments along the way. Katie encouraged our son to expand his horizons. During park visits at the beginning of the summer, he was only interested in the swings. Katie introduced him to the sandbox, which encouraged his natural creativity. During our son’s nap time, Katie happily contributed to light household tasks in our home, which helped our family spend more quality time together during the evening. She was responsive any time we needed to reach her during the day. Katie is dependable, punctual, and flexible. When a family member fell ill and we needed additional child care, she stepped in to help. We are so grateful we found Katie! We really enjoyed having her as a part of our family this summer and highly recommend her.
